VACCINE AND HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

All of the following health requirements must be met prior to entering our facility:

Please ensure that your pet receives vaccinations at least 10 days prior to their stay at WAGS. Proof of vaccines in the form of a current vaccine certificate is required prior to attending any of our services.

Please note: owners are responsible for checking and updating their pets’ vaccine records with us. We will not allow any dog with unknown or expired vaccines to stay with us.

CANINE:

Bordetella (kennel cough)  – every year or as per your veterinarian
DHP/DAP (Distemper, Hepatitis / Adenovirus, Parainfluenza) – annually or every three years
Rabies – annually or every three years
Lime – (not required, highly recommended) annually
Parvovirus – (not required, highly recommended) annually or every three years
Leptospirosis – (not required, highly recommended) annually

FELINE:

FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) – annually or every three years
Rabies – annually or every three years

Dogs are not required to be spayed or neutered. If your dog is in heat, we prefer her to stay home. Please keep in mind if your female is intact, there is a risk of pregnancy. Male cats must be neutered.

FLEA/TICK MEDICATION

Eastern Ontario is host to some of the highest level of disease in their tick populations—up to 20%! Ticks have been active year round, due to fluctuating weather patterns.  This is also true of their good friend the flea. It is for this reason we require Veterinary Approved flea and tick prevention year round for our canine guests, and flea protection for our feline visitors.

PRE-BOARDING / DAYCARE EVALUATION

Our mandatory trial daycare sessions make boarding safer and more comfortable for your dog.

In addition to our health requirements above, and in order to provide a safe and positive experience, all dogs are required to pass a Trial Daycare Session prior to boarding or attending daycare to be sure they are comfortable and safe with a group of dogs off leash.

What do we consider during your dog’s Evaluation?

  • Is your dog comfortable with other dogs?
  • Is your dog comfortable with new people and easy to handle?
  • How does your dog react to our routines and various types of stimuli?

In order to maintain a safe and fun environment for everyone, all dogs must be friendly towards other dogs and humans. We cannot accept dogs who exhibit aggressive, unsafe or excessively disruptive behaviour towards other dogs or our staff. We do not work with aggressive dogs. Please see a professional trainer if your dog is aggressive towards people or other dogs.

Book Now! to book an evaluation. The evaluation can be found as an add-on service to daycare.
